What and why is she having a motion hearing for?

My sister got charged with two offenses. She was found guilty due to a no contest plea. She recently recevied a letter from the court for a motion hearing. What is this motion hearing for? What and why is she having a motion hearing for?It could be for anything. A "motion" is when one party requests the court to do something. So like the poster above me said, without more information, nobody can tell you what it is for. Do you know if her lawyer tried to set aside the plea? Or maybe requested some kind of lesser sentence like diversion? Who's requesting the hearing? The DA or her attorney? That makes a big difference on what it could possibly be for. What and why is she having a motion hearing for?No telling. She can go to the court and look at the file. A motion is a request to the court to issue some sort of order. There are many sorts of orders and thus many sorts of motions. It could be a motion to revoke probation for a violation, or it could be a motion to correct the judgment to give her credit for time served or it could be almost anything else. What and why is she having a motion hearing for?Sorry, I can't see the letter from here. Maybe if you hold it closer to the screen?

Nobody can answer your question without more information. Perhaps her attorney should see the letter?
