How can I get a motion light in my bedroom?

I'm interested in getting a motion light for my bedroom, ie. something that turns on when I walk in the room and turns off when there hasn't been movement for a while. I'm confused about what to purchase and how to install it. Could what I need be purchased at Home Depot or Lowes without being too expensive? How can I get a motion light in my bedroom?I was at Menards today and noticed very reasonable motion detectors for rooms. They don['t cost a lot, sense within a reasonable range, although if you get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom you will probably get the full bedroom lighting. If you live alone that is probably okay.

Some are plug in with built in light, some actually screw into an existing light socket on a lamp or fixture, and some are "remote" in that you screw the receiver into a fixture followed by a bulb, then use a hand held remote to turn the light on and off as you like.

Not expensive at all, and the folks in the dept will be glad to point out all the different kinds. How can I get a motion light in my bedroom?Yes, Lowes and Home Depot do carry motion detector switches, and they're pretty affordable (25 - 30 dollars).

If you have a good working knowledge of residential electricity they're pretty simple to install.

If you're a novice, I'd get a pro to do the install for you.

Keep in mind, the light will turn on when you come in the room. It also comes on when you roll over at night, or someones headlights pass your window.

Good Luck! How can I get a motion light in my bedroom?A motion detector light switch is easy to install, and they should be on the shelf at either of those stores. The switch can replace the normal light switch in the wall.
