How do you slow down a video to make it slow motion?

I used windows movie maker and it only makes the video slow doesn't by half.. how can i slow down my video by more then half (extreme slow motion)? is there a free software?How do you slow down a video to make it slow motion?You can only slow your video down by a relatively small amount - extreme slow motion needs specialised (and very expensive) equipment. Have a look at AVISynth and Virtualdub (they're used together) and see what they can do for you..
