The uppercut shot in boxing and martial arts involves (as I understand it) a blow to the chin with upward force which throws the head back and causes the motion of the jaw to also cause impact in the back of the head. The head is thrown back, and may rebound back onto the chest. Can this be classed as whiplash?Can the motion caused by an uppercut be classed as whiplash?No because the blow from a uppercut forces the head backwards and the force from whiplash causes the head to move forwards.
This forward motion damages the muscles in the neck resulting in whiplash.
